What is natural selection?

Individuals with variations that suit their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce, so they pass on their alleles and those become more common.

Why did dark peppered moths become common?

Soot from factories darkened tree bark. Pale moths stood out and were eaten by birds, so dark moths survived and bred more.

Do individuals evolve?

No. Populations evolve, as the frequency of alleles changes over many generations.
