Privacy Policy
Short version: we don’t ask who you are, we don’t sell your data, and you control cookies.
This policy explains what happens to information when you use Science Academy at sciencedemy.com (“the site”, “we”). Questions or requests: support@sciencedemy.com.
What we don’t do
- No accounts, sign-ups or log-ins. We never ask for your name, email or age to use the site.
- We don’t run our own analytics or tracking pixels.
- We don’t sell or rent personal data. The only third parties involved are our host and, when ads are shown, advertising partners (see below).
What is stored on your device
| Name | Type | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
sa_consent | Cookie (first-party) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional storage, so we don’t ask again. | 1 year |
sa_font | Browser storage (localStorage) | The font you chose with the “Aa” button. Only saved when you pick one; it’s a setting you ask for, so it doesn’t need consent. | Until you pick Default or clear your browser |
chemlab.saves.v1 | Browser storage (localStorage) | Your “My saves”: the atoms, molecules and experiments you choose to save, with a small picture. Only if you accept. | Until you delete them or clear your browser |
Your saves never leave your device: we can’t see them. If you reject, or later change your mind with , nothing optional is stored and any saves already there are deleted. Saving a picture (PNG) or PDF downloads a file to your device and doesn’t need consent.
Information other services receive
Like every website, loading a page means your browser contacts servers, which see technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested.
- Hosting (Amazon Web Services). The site is served by Amazon CloudFront and S3. AWS processes these request details to deliver the pages and may keep them in short-term server logs for security and reliability.
- Fonts. The site’s fonts are served from our own domain, so no font service (such as Google Fonts) receives your details.
- Email. If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and delete them when no longer needed.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
To keep the site free we may show ads through Google AdSense. When ads are shown, the following applies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info (in Europe: youronlinechoices.eu).
- Learn more in How Google uses information from sites that use its services and how Google uses cookies in advertising.
- Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used, and can change their choice at any time with . Without consent, only non-personalised or limited ads may be shown.
Interactive demos in articles
Demos inside articles run in an isolated frame on your device. They can’t read cookies or your saves, and they send nothing to us.
Children
Science Academy is made for learners of all ages, including school students. Because we don’t collect personal data or ask for accounts, children can use it without giving any information about themselves.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the UK/EU GDPR), you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your data-protection authority. As we hold almost nothing about you, most requests are answered by the controls above, but you can always contact us at support@sciencedemy.com. The legal basis for the consent cookie and for “My saves” is your consent; serving the pages and fonts relies on our legitimate interest in running the site.
Changes
If this policy changes we’ll update it here and change the date at the top.
